Finally getting around to uploading these photos from a couple of weeks back. My Necrons managed to scrape a victory in Purge the Alien against Sisters of Battle at 2500pts
In the dark corners of the internet there are blogs that heal from their injuries at a terrifying speed.
Last Sunday was a 4-way free-for-all at 2000pts per player on a modified version of the Relic mission with my Necrons against Chaos Marines, Space Wolves and Orks.
Managed to squeeze in 5 turns, and I managed to pull off the win by grabbing two of the four Relics in turn 4 and keeping my hands on them (in no small part thanks to some devious unit placement) through turn 5.
Afraid the photos are a bit on the blurry side, I think my camera took a dislike to the lighting as it was having issues with the shadows around terrain.
Only a few days late, here’s photos from Tuesday’s game down at Games Workshop. My Necrons teamed up with Imperial Guard to take on Chaos Marines and Daemons with 1000pts per player on Purge the Alien.
I think I may have overestimated the abilities of my Wraiths and Destroyer Lord, they rushed the Great Unclean One, but were charged the next turn by almost everything else in the 2000pts they had. They were, of course, wiped out but only just.
My Scarab farm didn’t work out hugely well, and I think I’ll save this for playing a Maynarkh list where I can get rending Scarabs and put them to more use.
Final result was them: lots, us: not so much.
A couple of things I’ve been working on recently. I’ve now finished building my Wraiths, including magnetised claws so that I can add whip coils, so these guys are ready to spray and paint. That’ll bring me up to 6 Wraiths.
I’ve also been building the first of my two Canoptek Spyders. It’s mostly there, just a bit of magnetising to finish off before I get started on the second one. So far the Particle Beamer and Gloom Prism are magnetised, that just leaves the Fabricator Claw Array which shouldn’t take too long.
As well as that I’ve picked up some more supplies to finish off my gaming board, so I’ll hopefully get myself sorted on the other half of that soon too.
Wednesday was my first chance to use the Fall of Orpheus Necron list in Imperial Armour 12. I’ve not got any of the shiny Forgeworld units yet, but I did bring along a unit of Flayed Ones led by Kutlakh and had a couple units of Charnel Scarabs.
My to-wound and rending rolls on the scarabs were awful, but my opponent made up for it by failing some pretty short charges letting me get the drop on his units a few times.
My big unit of Wraiths kicked ass, as they always do. Got off to a bit of a bad start when a krak missile obliterated my Ghost Ark with a 6” explosion that tore up the nearby squads, but as usual my Necrons just went with outlasting the enemy on attrition.
Kutlakh was cool, when he got into combat he managed to instant kill the enemy Captain with his Obsidax and it’s useful instant death, picked off a sergeant with thunder hammer next round, and did in the apothecary the round after.
Here’s a few photos from Tuesday night’s game down at Games Workshop. Rather than the usual 3v3 we’d do with that many players we mixed things up a bit with a 2v2v2. I teamed up my Necrons with Daemons, another team was double Marines and the third team was Marines and Guard.
My new additions to my Wraith squad were awesome, letting that unit tear up one flank and trash a load of Guard before getting caught by some Marines with a Null Zone Librarian who managed to kill off my Destroyer Lord and a couple of Wraiths.
5 of the 6 players brought flyers, leading to a pretty cinematic moment of two Stormbirds chasing each other across the centre of the board.
Final score was 3VP for the double Marines and 2VP each for the other teams. We almost swung it our way on the last turn but a 4+ invulnerable save denied us another Slay the Warlord and protected the Linebreaker for the Marines.
